Dream Sisters is my first book. It is never too late to start being an author - I was born in 1950 - so If you want to write, if you have a story to tell, just do it.
When authors say that their characters took over, believe them. That’s what happened to me. Originally, Marama had a very small role, but she had other ideas. I had to rewrite the plot to accommodate her. Jason did the same; even though I am a cat person, there was no cat in the character list!
I hope that Dream Sisters might inspire young adults to think of studying science, to believe in themselves, know that they can have dreams, and work towards them. Yes, I know. I sound like the grandmother that I am!

I live in Marton, New Zealand, which is a small town near Whanganui. There really is a Citadel Cafe at Castlecliff beach. All the locations are real, even if I have taken a few liberties in describing them.
